FAQS

What do we need to bring?

At Sail Baltimore we provide all of the foul weather gear including: jackets, leggings and lifejackets. We would recommend that you bring some extra layers as even in the Summertime it can be needed when it gets a little breezy. A hat is also a useful item to have when out on the water for a long period of time. A sense of fun and adventure is the most important thing to bring.

I have no experience, can we rent the boat?

The boat is not available for bareboat (non-Skippered) charter. It is only available as a skippered vessel on one of our cruising or learn to sail options.

Where can we leave our car?

There is parking available in the village car park although in the summertime this can be very busy. There is a traffic warden operating in the village in the summertime. The most convenient parking should be at your accommodation.

Do you do overnight cruises?

We don’t do overnight cruises at Sail Baltimore. All of our sailing options are day only, returning at  approximately five in the evening.

What is the best footwear when on the boat?

Comfortable shoes are crucial when getting on a yacht. We would suggest deck shoes if you have them. If not something that is rubber soled and preferably non-slip. Leather soled or heeled shoes are not recommended.

Can we bring the dog?
Unfortunately our insurance policy does not allow us to carry any pets on the vessel.

Are we likely to see any dolphins or other wildlife?

While there is an abundance of wildlife in our sailing area, there are no guarantees of seeing it on any given day. It is unlikely to see any in the confines of the harbour, as we sail further afield there is a much greater chance of seeing of wildlife such as dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, seals and abundant birdlife.
